Paras Patna launches Cardiac & Cancer Care Medical Bus Set to deliver Preventive & Diagnostic Care

Paras Patna in accordance with its vision to bridge the healthcare gap in Bihar has launched a specialized Medical Bus which shall be visiting the nooks and corners of the state delivering diagnostic and preventive cancer and cardiology care.

The initiative will help in touching the lives of thousands of patients living in the rural areas of Bihar that have little or no access to specialised cancer or cardiac care. The state of the art medical bus is equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment, ECG, TMT and provides an infrastructure to even perform simple minor operations.

According to Dr Talat Halim, Medical Director, Paras HMRI Hospital, Patna “Our commitment is to provide healthcare to the common man of Bihar and bridge the gap. It is our endeavour to deliver specialised care to the interiors of the state. The bus will transport our cancer and cardiac specialists. We shall be planning extensive medical tours and shall be intimating the public of Bihar about our plans soon.”

Highlighting the overwhelming response of the public, Dr Asif, Medical Superintendant, Paras Patna, shares, “We have started to receive extensive public support. We are being invited up various sarpanch’s and these invitations have motivated our doctors, nursing staff and support officials to provide specialised care to rural Bihar.”

Dr Rajiv Sharan, Sr. Consultant- Surgical Oncology – Chief – Head & Neck Cancer highlights, “ Today Bihar has emerged as the oral and mouth cancer capital of the country. It is important for us to detect, diagnose and treat cancer as early as possible. However misdiagnosis, unawareness and the unavailability of specialised doctors have affected the patient outcomes. As clinicians we support this initiative and aim at being integral participants in ensuring the success of the program.”

On being a part of the outreach program through the medical bus, Dr Pramod Kumar, Director – Cardiology, Paras Patna shares his thoughts, “Heart Disease is a major issue and with the bus equipped with ECG and TMT we aim at diagnosing patients with underlying heart disease early. We will also be able to provide guidance to patients seeking preventive steps. People who have a family history of heart disease should definitely come forward to avail of our services. Please note that even today a majority of the patients die due to delayed cardiac emergency service or specialised care. Through this project we also aim to sensitise the public on the quick first aid steps associated with a heart attack.”

Paras Patna considers the initiative a small step in its endeavour to ensure that specialised care is accessible to all. The healthcare organisation aims at making a difference and rendering affordable and quality specialised tertiary health care services in areas that have little or no access to it.
